To become a security guard in the state of Alabama certain criteria must be met.  The Alabama State Licensing Board requires that any prospective security guard or armed security guard must be able to complete an 8 hour of licensing board approved training class before applying for there license.
A prospective guard will have to pass a written examination at the end of the 8 hour training course in order to complete there training.
Most security companies will usually have further requirements that must be completed or met but these will differ depending on the agency.
Alabama mandates that at a minimum you must meet the following basic criteria:

  • At least 18 years of age
  • have no felony or violent crime convictions
  • Be mentally able to complete the job
  • Be of sound physical condition
  • Hold a high school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent educational certificate.

If you wish to become an Armed Security guard, additional training is required.
